About 1620 Anglers

Genesis of America's Hometown Charter

At a very young age, 1620 Anglers founder, Captain Rick, started fishing with his father and his two brothers. Like most he was exposed to it on freshwater for largemouth bass at the pond he grew up on in Plymouth. As we grew up, his father spent many weekend days on the ocean fishing on his boat and Rick could see the happiness it brought him. Occassionally he was lucky enough to tag along!

Later in life, his older brother, Captain Mike, purchased his first boat, which was geared more towards cruising and watersports, but we attempted to go out and fish the ocean and scratched the itch. Full-blown addiction set in once Captain Mike graduated into a 21ft walkaround Bayliner Trophy and Captain Rick joined his frequent pursuit of stalking striped bass in the waters of Cape Cod Bay, Buzzards Bay, Stellwagen Bank, Race Point, Peaked Hill Bar and East of Chatham. Captain Rick learned a lot from his older brother, his father, and his brother's close friend Jimmy who each passed down a wealth of wisdom.

During many summers, Captains Mike and Rick spent countless hours fishing commercially for striped bass while closely observing their habits and trends going back to 2008. With each season these elusive fish have always kept and continue to keep them guessing with where they will be, when, and in what numbers.

Back in 2019 Captain Mike decided to attain his captains licence and Captain Rick followed shortly after in the joint pursuit of charter fishing and sharing their knowledge and passion for fishing Massachusetts waters with locals and vistors. They have close to 20 years experience saltwater fishing, both recreationally and commercially, and are lifelong anglers. It's in thier blood.

In 2021, their friend Captain Jake joined 1620 Anglers to provide support for larger parties and trips targeting giant bluefin tuna and black sea bass. Residing in Rochester, by way of Plymouth, he has the ability to trailer his boat quickly to the nearby MA South Coast ramps in Fairhaven and Wareham, as well as Cape Cod. He's also a commerical fisherman and is on the water almost everyday of the week!

In 2022, a fellow member of the Stellwagen Bank Charter Boat Association, Plymouth Resident and President of the America's Hometown Charter Dock & Association started to network with Captain Rick more and more. Eventually Captain Ren teamed up to accomodate large parties and corporate outings. He has become an asset to our fleet over the past few years. He and his first mate Mike have a lifetime of fishing knowledge and make an incredible team. All clients that go out with them have a great time and lots of fun!

So why would you want to hire a 1620 Anglers Captain? Between their combined experience, logs, charterplotters, and even their phone camera rolls provide helpful data they analyze to forecast where to go for the best fishing at any given part of the sason. That and four captains on the water working together to cover a larger area and notify eachouther if there's a hot bite going on.

They're all focused on client experience which is somewhat of a lost art in this industry. From Captain Rick's personal experience, he's vowed to approach every charter inquiry with the white glove professionalism he's acquired over his career as an Enterprise Account Executive.
